Wealth Inequality Put In Perspective

Accumulating wealth can be understood as a race down an infinite stretch of road, with the goal being to get as far from the starting line (0 wealth) as possible in the positive direction (don’t go in debt).

  • Some people are born at the starting line, some people are born 1 billion meters past the starting line.
  • Some people are born with advantages like a jet plane or roller skates, or some people are born with disadvantages like they don’t have legs or can’t ride in jets.
  • Some people face obstacles that make their journey more difficult, while some people find help and support to travel faster and more comfortably.

This is not a fair race.  At present, there is no-one in charge of equalizing this playing field besides your religious beliefs.
